Teaching Artist Training
The 21st century artist is a teaching artist. That individual must be a trained artist, fluent in both the practice of an art form and the educational aspects of that form. In the classroom, arts integration is an experiential form of teaching and learning, thus the teaching artist must be trained in an experiential way. Artists must also be versed in the language of the classroom.
Zephyr’s workshops for teaching artist training utilize dance as the primary vehicle. However, Zephyr’s methods are applicable to any artform. Zephyr’s workshops for teaching artists focus on:
- Planning
- Classroom Practice
- Assessment
- Documentation

Moving Ideas
Many students today do not have access to arts education. Dance education in particular is rarely seen in schools. Designed to introduce classroom teachers from all grade levels to the power of using dance and movement to teach academic curriculum, Zephyr’s workshops also develop teachers’ skill and comfort level with the art form. These workshops allow classroom teachers and arts specialists to experience dance as a central part of learning while developing usable integrations skills for their own teaching.
